Thanks Mikey for a great day out. It was very enjoyable to meet and catch up with everyone and to Khryssy for the refreshments. It was fascinating to watch John bring that 1950's 405 line set to life.

Thanks for your kind hospitality, Mike; a great day out  Great examples of TVs and the source material being shown was very entertaining! (where *did* those spoof Ceefax pages come from?)

Nice to put real faces to so many Forum "handles" ...

... and three cheers for Khryssy who kept everyone thoroughly sustained with copious amounts of tea, bacon butties etc. ;D

All the best

Guy

Hi All.

Thank you to everyone who turned up. It was a brilliant day and I enjoyed it immensely. I would also like to add my thanks to Khryssy for her brilliant tea and coffee making skills and her wonderfully glamorous demeanour. That amazing PVC outfit certainly turned a few heads.

Also my thanks to all the people who brought stuff for the junk swap, Mike P. for his delicious home made apple cake, all the people who brought food and John W. for his master class in TV fixing and amazing tales of TV engineering past.

Anyway, thanks again everyone and I can't wait to do it all again next year. Although I think something special might be called for in 2017 as it'll be 50 years of colour television and it'd be great to put on some kind of a colour TV display. What do people reckon? Does anyone fancy bringing something colour TV related for a display in Solihull somewhere in July next year? If so then I'll start a new thread. :)

Thanks all.

Kind regards.

From Mike.

I`d also like to say I had a great day and enjoyed having a good natter with new and old friends.
The weather was great and those of us who went to the drum & monkey sat out side in the sun to eat and drink.
We had khryssy looking after us at mikey,s house making drinks and bacon sarnies and smiling sweetly.
Many thanks mike for letting us all descend on you again.

Robin

I can't thank everyone enough for a great event. I know I'm quiet and don't talk much but enjoyed every second of my visit on Saturday.
It was certainly an honour to meet several forum members, especially Mike Phelan having read and admired his excellent articles in "Television" over the years. Special thanks also to Khryssy for her splendid sandwiches and to Mikey for his hospitality and for making us all feel so welcome.

Cheers,
Brian

What a fantastic bash at Mikey 405's! I really enjoyed it and reviving that Ekco T311 was great fun!
Thanks for a great weekend Mike and all the like minded telly folk.
Regards, John.

A wonnderful weekend as usual!

Top marks to Mikey for his hospitality - nothing was too much trouble.
Khryssy's bacon sarnies even made the sliced bread good, as did the vintage toaster keeping us topped up at breakfast time.

The 'real' cornish pasties from pastyboy were worth waiting for as well.

Good to see that many folks remembered their name badges so I could meet many forum members.

As the promised 'arctic' winds came from the south west we could sit outside at the Drum and Monkey for our mid-day meal.

A pleasant wander round the NVCF yesterday; I resisted getting anything too large!

Apologies Pastyman for forgetting to mention the gorgeous pasties!
My weakness!

Come hell or high water, I'll be there next year - this year was the second one in a row that I missed Mike. Looking forward to seeing some pictures.

Hi Mike,
Sounds like everyone had a great time at the 'meetup'. Unfortunately, I was busy on Saturday as I would have loved to have been there.
I would definitely be interested in a colour tv related event. I have a Pye CT205 (thread elsewhere) and an ITT CVC5. Also my mate may still have the Thorn 2000 which we played about with when we were kids- I must find out. Plus a 3v22 and 3v29 vcr. I could bring any or all of these.
Well worth starting another thread: I'm sure a cunning plan could be hatched during the next year.
Cheers
Nick

Re: 2016 Solihull Meetup - Saturday 14th of May

A big thanks to Mike for hosting the "do" and all who helped, chatted and in general made a very sociable and interesting afternoon. I didn't get to thank the donor of the television volumes 7 years in total. I did put down for the 1979 set but I got piled up with the rest on the way out ! if anyone missed out please let me know.

Cakes, tea and sarnies were great and if its OK would like to come along next year - I can take orders for pasties (veggie options available if by advance request)

Once again thanks to everyone and John from Enfield very kindly gave us a cracking ultra Bermuda 3500 set - he even fixed several faults when he got in at 9.30pm on the Sat.

Stu,

PS if anyone is down in the south west visiting or whatever please drop us a line, all very welcome and we have a workshop "on the side" at our warehouse.

I had a great time too and am greatful to everyone involved.

I hope to come future get togethers. The best bit is simply being able to share our passion for the hobby face-to-face, better than sharing on a forum (though I do really enjoy this forum) and certainly better than trying to talk about it to people who are not technically minded.

So, together with the NVCF the next day, it was great fun.

Cheers
Andy

Oh go on then, seeing as it's you...

Not that many photographs I'm afraid, but here's what I have. :)

Great pictures of a memorable day out Mikey. I would have contributed photos, only for my phone to run out of charge. My fault for forgetting the charger!
Cheers
