The League of Gentlemen (1960)
I'm watching it right now on Film 4

Richard Attenborough plays a radio & TV repairman. Can anyone identify anything in his workshop, particularly the SW set in the first image?

Radios from the movies.

Ok I'm a mind to buy radio's from films I love. The first is 'Halfway house 1944'. Does anyone have any idea what it is? It looks like a battery portable. Someone mentioned the display is bright. I assume this was painted on as the feed would have been recorded so the radio may never have been on.

That'll be a Gordon Elf Cameo ABX. Good luck with finding one, the company was small and in fifty years I've not met any of their models in the flesh: you never know, though, someone right here may have an example of this set looking for a home.

Interesting that the set's label says 55 Rathbone Place, while RM.org gives the company's address as 78 Rathbone Place, and Roberts' radio factory at the time was at 41 Rathbone Place.

Bullet features a radio in the hotel room of the witness Bullet is trying to protect.

It looks like quite an old set for the late 1960s, possible something from the late 1940s - early 1950s.

This is going to make me sound like a miserable old boot, but haven't we already got a thread on this over in 'general vintage'?

Can't help with that one, but the fourth still includes a Murphy B31.

Watching an early Hitchcock movie (Sabotage) from 1936 on Talking Pictures recently and spotted a Bush Sug 31, I've actually got one.
The film is very good and can be found complete on youtube.

I recently bought the DVD of Pennies From Heaven, I've seen two sets so far, one being a Pye (I think) with a Sunray grille, and an unknown radiogram.

I will upload some pictures in time.

Watched a repeat of Allo Allo, last night, can any one identify the Transceiver in Lieutenants Gruber's "Little Tank", looked vaguely familiar to me, and if it was it must have been British, as I have no knowledge of German equipment.

RAF Bovingdon apparently.

Still used as a film & TV location.
I wonder if the radar head (and discones) were there, or just stock footage?

I think our intrepid pair were shown walking by the installation (a trailer I think, maybe an outbuilding) so it was definitely on-site. In fact the whole site seemed festooned with antennas of various types.

Old TVs spotted in a film

Not a particularly good film - considering the quality of the writers and cast - BUT, quite a few 50's and 60's TVs.

Two or three early on in the movie.
(I especially like watching Arthur Lowe watching cricket)
Odd shaped thing at 0:48:00
A big wooden one at 1:01:00
TV Studio at 1:04:00

The film title:

The Rise and Rise of Michael Rimmer 1970 Full Movie

Available on Youtube

I hope this falls within the definition of a radio..

Here's Trevor Bannister in the Avengers arranging a secret audition for 'Are You being Served' over his secret walkie-talkie. I've trawled the 'net but can't ID it.

A better view of the same walkie-talkie from a later episode. I would imagine the user is trying to contact the supplier of his toupee, which is a real corker.
Sadly the maker's name seems to have been removed from the area just under the speaker. For some reason I can imagine the word 'Midland' there, but it's purely a guess.

Back again with another item from The Avengers, this time a chunky AKAI X-IV cross-field tape recorder. From the Ep 'My Wildest Dreams'.

Looks more like something the props department cobbled together, the speaker grill looks more like the diffuser from a torch or lantern.
