No, it's not the processor this time, is there somewhere a description in pdf how TS830 ALC works?

Re: Kenwood TS830S no ALC in tune mode.
Guaranteed it will be dry joints.
My very clean TS-830S had the same issue and other intermittent problems, all gradually sorted with so many dry joints found. |
Re: Kenwood TS830S no ALC in tune mode.
ok, thanks reply, what do you mean with dry joints...
no indication of mike sig in alc mode as well i have full rf output in usb/lsb so mike is working ok , also full cw rf output tested on other receiver what does the relay on the rectifier unit... carlos on6cn |
Re: Kenwood TS830S no ALC in tune mode.
The soldering gets what is known as dry joints. Also I've come across soldered joints that have little or no flux and when prodded reveal a clean printed circuit land. This problem is now rearing it's ugly head on the TS-830S
Do you have the service manual? To identify the circuit area and what individual components do without it is impossible. To do the resoldering will require patience and time doing a little at a time and testing so any mistakes can be rectified, not really a job if you are less than confident. Mine started to show problems after replacing the PA valves as items got disturbed inside. |
Re: Kenwood TS830S no ALC in tune mode.
I would always recommend a head magnifier when looking for dry joints,

Re: Kenwood TS830S no ALC in tune mode.
Was that the 4-pole one on the AF Unit?
Unfortunately, Kenwood/Trio called all of the three different relays (ANT relay, Rectifier Unit relay and AF Unit relay) RL1. |
