Can anyone ID this radio / chassis?
Hello,
Does anyone recognise the radio in the photo? To me, it looks like it's got a home made cabinet. However, the tuning scale and chassis look more like they're from a radio manufacturer. Many thanks, Dazzlevision |

Definitely a simple TRF receiver, pentode RF amplifier and what looks like a Mullard 354V triode detector. Could be a product of a small pre-war manufacturer. Doesn't look homemade. Well worth restoring.

Looks like a Ferranti dial to me, but as you say, otherwise it looks like a home made cabinet, or at least a refinished cabinet as that plywood would probably have been finished to look (with respect) nicer than it is.

Re: Can anyone ID this radio / chassis?
Hi,
I wonder if the wooden frame around the controls was originally intended to have a cover fitted to prevent tampering, maybe in a school or hospital? Cheers, Pete.

Looks like a Coomber of Worcester. The last one I remember seeing had octal valves and did have a door on the front with a lock on it.

Well, after searching on the web, I found this
https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-us/a...5-a65700ab51d1 The radio in the foreground looks to be the same, with original lockable door. Now to try and find out more details....... |
