Default Ekco RP329 Restoration

I am about to start restoring my Ekco RP329 record player fitted with a Collaro Conquest deck. I have just lifted the deck from the unit and have found a little (aluminium?) metal tag stuck to the bottom of the case.

Image attached.

Any ideas?

Looks like a wire retainer to keep wires out of the mechanism, possibly snapped.

Like Freya, I also think it is part of the aluminium wiring strap attached to the bottom of the cabinet in order to keep the wiring away from the mech.

Cheers, Ted.

Removing valves: touching them with bare hands reduces life?

The three knobs are off the front, and so is the nameplate facia. The two screws now visible are the only two holding the amp chassis in place?

Your probably thinking of Quartz Halogen lamps rather than domestic valves.

From Wikipedia

Any surface contamination, notably the oil from human fingertips, can damage the quartz envelope when it is heated. Contaminants will create a hot spot on the bulb surface when the lamp is turned on. This extreme, localized heat causes the quartz to change from its vitreous form into a weaker, crystalline form that leaks gas. This weakening may also cause the bulb to form a bubble, weakening it and leading to its explosion

Domestic valves don't run nearly that hot

Cheers

Yes, but when you get onto audiophile and such websites on new valve amp construction they get into all kinds of impenetrable discussions.

The circuit diagram says that the unit has a full wave H.T. metal rectifier, coded MR1 on the schematic. Part number B108287.
Any idea what particular type of rectifier this is?
