Sony TC-330 - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

Hi all,

I'm trying to repair said reel to reel recorder. The fault seems to be the capstan not turning. It seems the idler wheel may have shrunk as it's not making contact with the capstan drum.

Has anyone had any luck finding replacement parts for these reel to reel?

I don't know this model, Tim, but do check for sticky grease causing linkages to bind before condemning the idler. How much is it missing by?

I presume by "capstan drum" you mean its flywheel?

PS. Nice machine, I've never seen a cassette/open reel combo before

Is this one of the Sony models that doesn't fully work until the tape is lifting the tape detector mech?
