Default Leak Sandwich Speakers.

When the leak' Sandwich' speakers were released in the 1960's [I believe] was each one of a pair designated as 'left' and 'right'?
I ask this because the mid-range and tweeter units are mounted horizontally.
Regards to all

Are you thinking of a later model?

The original speaker that was just called the "Sandwich" had two drivers - one 13" bass driver and one 3" cone unit for midrange and treble. These were not 'handed'

Thanks Beo. Yes, I must be referring to the later models where the mid and tweeter units were mounted next to each other horizontally. Were they handed, do you remember?

As long as you have one of each it won't matter, having two of one kind won't matter apart from ones sense of symmetry.

Er, a photo of the pair might help!

I don't remember them being handed, and a quick look at internet images shows a number of assymetric pairs, and no symmetrical ones. As Merlin says, it doesn't matter anyway - I bet your listening room and its contents are far from symmetrical!

Spot on! I just checked mine and both have the tweeter in the top left hand corner when viewed from the front.

That said, the big ol' 2075s and the later 3090s that I have were indeed mirror images of each other and labelled as 'left' and 'right' on their rear panels.

When I acquired my Leak 2075 speakers a couple of years ago, I found an unsoldered 'joint' on one of the drivers. It was the wire from the voice coil that should have been soldered to its own connection terminal. It was held by a single wrap around the terminal and that was it, no solder even though its partner terminal, 1 cm away, was soldered! So the driver was receiving a signal but it was not getting past the terminal - intermittently. But I wasn't surprised given what has been written about Leak products once they became owned by Rank. Anyway, a two minute job to fix, and fun to find.
