Sony CV2000, CV2100 & TCV2010
Hi all!
New member here after some info from what seems to be one of the best forums covering the items that I have. I'm in the middle of clearing out a shop that we took over some 6 years ago (but has been running since 1928) but has failed to be as busy as we had hoped. Amongst all the junk the we inherited from the previous owners that we've now got to get rid of are 3 Sony videocorders dating from what I think is the mid '60s. No one here really has any knowledge on them & we're wondering if there is any market or demand for them & if so what they may or may not be worth. As we know nothing about them we have not powered up or tested them. Although they are in the original Sony boxes (serial numbers match on the CV2000 & 2100, TCV2010 box has no number at all), these are quite tatty and we have no cables to power them or connect them. Any info would be very useful to help us decide what to do with these machines that I think are in fairly good condition for being 50 years old! Pictures can be found on the links below. Many thanks to the mod's for allowing me to post this! Sony CV2000 Sony CV2100 Sony TCV2010 |

Re: Sony CV2000, CV2100 & TCV2010
They look in very nice cosmetic condition. They date from about 1969 or 1970. My sixth form college (opened in 1970) had a CV2000 in use in 1971.
I suspect they won't have a lot of value in cash terms, simply because they don't have any practical use today and the number of people who collect such things is quite small. Have you checked eBay completed sales for similar items? That is usually as good a guide to value as any. |

Hi Paul, had a quick look but didn't see much there. Could see one cv2000 but that had the camera with it too (have a feeling we have one somewhere, certainly have the portable recording unit just not photo'd that yet.) and some other bits & pieces. Will take another look though.

Re: Sony CV2000, CV2100 & TCV2010
They do look to be in excellent condition and I think there would be a fair bit of interest on Ebay or even on our sales section. There are a number of "outfits" who do tape to disk transfers and they are always on the lookout for machines that work or might work. If I were doing it I would put them on at a high(ish) starting price as there may only be one buyer so 99p could be a disappointment.
I collect TV cameras (broadcast) or else I would be interested. Last edited by beamcurrent; 22nd Feb 2017 at 5:59 pm. Reason: addition |

Don't plug them in. After all this time they could well not work until parts are changed and belts may not have lasted.
There are not many left now, but Rare does not mean Valuable - if you don't want to use them then you can offer them below and somebody here will get pleasure from them. Cheers, Steve P.

Did cross my mind that doing so would be a bad idea & & they do look lovely. I gave them a brief dust over but not a thorough clean. Be a shame to have damaged them if I did plug them in!

Re: Sony CV2000, CV2100 & TCV2010
How amazing to see new in box machines in such good condition! Looking at your serial number for the CV2100 (11995) and comparing it with the service manual and my own machine, I would estimate that your machine dates to about 1970.
As has been said, I would probably try an auction, maybe with a starting price of £50 or so. What interest there would be I don't know- you can but try. Cheers Nick |

Re: Sony CV2000, CV2100 & TCV2010
Thanks for the replies & the views everyone. I have been checking in but am swamped with the packing up of the store to reply to all. Will continue to check in to see if any other opinions crop up & once the shop move is done I probably stick them on ebay. If/When I do, is it with-in house rule to put a link up in case anyone here is interested?

Re: Sony CV2000, CV2100 & TCV2010
Due to problems in the past, we have a policy of not allowing discussion of eBay sales, except in response to a wanted item. If and when you do go down this route everyone interested knows where to look, so it's not necessary to post a link here.
Sorry to hear of the closure of another of our businesses, but good luck with the disposals. |

Re: Sony CV2000, CV2100 & TCV2010
Thanks Bill, much appreciated. Good news is that we're only closing one of our stores. We've hit the end of lease and the area was getting quieter & quieter and more focused on nighttime trade with bars, cafes, restaurants & pubs. All the staff are staying but moving in to the main store, we'll likely be more productive as we spread ourselves less thinly!

Re: Sony CV2000, CV2100 & TCV2010
Thanks for the info everyone. Shop move done giving me time to sort these out now. Nearly broke my back moving them to what is hopefully a temporary home.
To be fair I'd keep one as a decorative piece if I had anywhere to put one, think they look fantastic! Thanks again. |

What is the "other junk"? If there is any old TV, radio or test equipment many people here would be interested.
