Television the first television journal in the world magazine
I recently found various 'Television' and 'Television and Short-Wave' magazines from the early to mid 1930's. Most are in fairly good condition. 'Television' reports to be 'The first Television Journal in the world'
I am not very knowledgable about this sort of thing. I think they are probably a quite hard to find so I wanted to ask on this forum where they might be of interest. I have 8 issues between March 1932 and April 1937. |

The owner of this website provides http://www.americanradiohistory.com online magazines similar to the ones you have. Have look to see if they are on the website, David may be interested if he does not have them.
It's a valuable resource that quite a few of us use for information and lots of entertaining reading. http://www.americanradiohistory.com/...aster_Page.htm Frank |

Re: Television the first television journal in the world magazine
Dave [M] there is the Kalee thread from 26/2/10 'Television' magazine-'Practical Television'-distinct? that reopened in 2014. There is a reference to the early magazines [post 8] amongst the Practical Television discussion. Perhaps you might care to link that in? I get a bit confused by references to "Television and Short Wave World" and the similar title that ends T and SW News

Re: Television the first television journal in the world magazine
Indeed, Television [and Short Wave World] is unrelated (other than in its subject matter) to Practical Television [and Short Wave Review]. As I understand it, the former was published by the Royal Television Society, and the latter by Newnes under the editorship of F.W. Camm. Of course, further confusion can arise from Practical Television having dropped the "Practical" in October 1970 to be called simply Television until its final demise in May 2008.
If only this thread were referring to the pre-war issues of Practical Television (of which there were only fifteen between September 1934 and November 1935) I would have been very interested, as these would nicely complement my full set of the post-war issues, but are about as rare as the proverbial hens' teeth.

Further to the above, though slightly at a tangent, I attach a document I produced some time ago setting out what I have gleaned about the timeline of the various "Practical" magazines.

Re: Television the first television journal in the world magazine
I believe the last issue was June 2008, with test case no: 535.
It ceased publication in January 2007, and then via a new publisher, began publishing in January 2008, and ceased in June 2008. |
