Default Vexed by an Akai GX210D.

Recently aquired, worked fine out of the box. Went to it the second time and everything functions ie REW, FF, stop and play, but no sound, no meter movement and not even any sound through headphones. Auto reverse doesn't work either although it did first time i tried it. Any pointers please? The power supply has already been recapped and the machine had a good clean and lube.

Annoying!

Thanks.

Silly questions but since it stopped producing a signal, have you checked the heads for cleanliness? Is the tape threaded correctly?

First suspect has to be the supply to the electronics - were all the new caps put in the right way round? Is DC present on the audio
boards?

The muting circuit could be at fault, see no.7 or even the "From Reverse to Forward Playback" see no.4

OK. After some testing I've dicovered there's no current at the playback amp board. There's 80V! at the centre pin of the transistor on the power supply board, more than there should be, the outer pins appear dead. I've shelved it for now.
