BBC TS/10/350 Signal Generator Info
Hi all.
I've just dug out this BBC audio frequency generator, complete with canvas carry case. It is beautifully built, with top quality components within. I've had a quick search on line, but I've been un able to turn up any information or specs on this. I guess this dates from the early 1960's looking at the date codes on the electrolytics. I would be interested to hear any information from those that have had experience with these please. Many thanks. SimonT.

Re: BBC TS/10/350 Signal Generator Info
Hello Simon,
I have one of these that I've had for over 20 years. Mine's a little ealier than yours TS10/341. Until I got a Lindos, I used the TS10 quite a lot, but I still use it now & again, as I have its mate, the ATM1. I've just refurbished the ATM1, which performs brilliantly, if one ignores the built-in calibration signal, (derived from the mains!) and hope to do a little work on the TS10 during the winter. Mine works reasonably well, but they are not free from distortion. I'n hoping to make the output a little cleaner if possible. There is more information available at: http://www.bbceng.info/ti/eqpt/TS_10.pdf David. Last edited by Vintage Engr; 11th Nov 2017 at 6:08 pm. Reason: error in information address. |

Re: BBC TS/10/350 Signal Generator Info
Hi David.
Many thanks for that link - it's a great help. I have now powered it up and it happily outputs a clean sinewave, although there is some distortion of the waveform below 100Hz. I have not had to replace any components - even the interstage coupling capacitors are leak free. However, some of the 10 percent carbon composition resistors are out of tolerance. I'll probably move this on, I'll stick with my Radford Low Distortion Oscillator for the foreseeable....! Many thanks. SimonT.

Hello Simon,
Glad to have beeen of help. Your unit sounds much like mine. I had to change a few resistors to get it back to a reasonable state. To think I used to use these units at work! I shall stick with my Lindos for serious measurements, but the TS10 has a quirky nostalgic appeal. David. |

Simon / David
I've been gifted some master drawings of the circuit diagrams of both the TS/10 and ATM/1. If you'd like printed copies, please PM me your respective home addresses and I will gladly get them made up and posted to you. It may take a little while but bear with me! Best wishes Guy

Re: BBC TS/10/350 Signal Generator Info
Here are the units I 'inherited' when the original North Regional station was demolished in the mid-80's.
(the equipment mini-rack was very kindly supplied to me f.o.c. by gezza123 a few years back)
