Philco A547B radio valve positions
I have a Philco A547B valve radio. Could anyone tell me the positions on the chassis for the two valves Brimar 5Z 4G and Ferranti 6V6G please?
I know they are located next to eachother but do not know which way round they should be! Many thanks. |

Re: Philco A547B radio valve positions
Right. Manual available up top there and well worth getting.
Valves - From the back, there are 2 near the transformer. With the back off and looking in from the back, the back one of the 2 valves is a 5Z4G. The 'front' one near the back of the chassis is a 6V6G. The other three, counting away from the mains transformer, are 6Q7G, 6K7G and 6K8G. Cheers, Steve P.

Re: Philco A547B radio valve positions
Hi Steve,
Many thanks for the fast response. So, if I understand correctly, the valve closest to the radio's rear cover is the 5Z4G, while the one closest to the speaker is the 6V6G? Many thanks, Oliver. |

Other way round. The one nearest the back cover is a 6V6G. The one in the middle is a 5Z4G.
Cheers, Steve P.

Re: Philco A547B radio valve positions
Just a foot note to the above.
I 'did' one of these about a month ago. V2 has be a 6K7GT not 6K7G. As there's no screening can round any of the valves, you get some pretty strange results by using 'G' versions. Good luck Pete |
