Default Views record?

I see that The Thanks Thread is getting close to 100,000 views, is that a record for this forum?

I took a guess that "The Sussex Homebrew Valve Tester" thread would have had more views and indeed it has. 343,650 views at the time of typing this.

That is not a world record by any means.

John Curl's Blowtorch thread on DIY Audio, if I am not mistaken.

Well spotted. It would take a whole year to read all those posts.

Like many long threads, much of that repeats earlier information. In some cases this is because people have not read earlier material, but mostly it is because they simply repeat assertions made by themselves or others which then invite various degrees of refutation. The moderators on that site have allowed that thread much more latitude to wander off topic than is usual so it has become disconnected from its title.

There is a theorem in computer science which says that any algorithm will eventually either halt or enter an infinite loop. Forum threads are a bit like that.

I suppose it saves the moderators installing a live chat panel at the top of the site.

According to the stats in the admin panel the Sussex thread is indeed the most viewed currently.
