Cartridges
Hi
Just wondered if Ben (Decatron) updated his list of cartridges. Also where are most cartridges made these days, any in the UK? Thank you |

Re: Cartridges
Ben's thread is here: https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=119339
You could send him a Private Message to ask whether he's updated anything. And yes, most cartridges found on vintage British equipment were British though there were exceptions. Sonotone, for example, were an American company, although I believe they made cartridges over here too. Nick. |

Re: Cartridges
Hi John,
The list is probably due for an update soon. Will take a look and let you know when it is done (might be a couple of weeks though).

Re: Cartridges
Hi Ben
Thank you for replying, no pressure, I was just looking at some of my old cartridges and remembered your thread. I was only just wondering where all the various original cartridges were made and if any are made in the U.K. today. Thanks again Ben. John |

Re: Cartridges
Lovely John Wright builds the rather good (but hugely expensive) Jubilee range in sunny Bridgnorth - based on the Decca moving iron designs from the mists of Time. Loved and hated more or less equally by hi-fi enthusiasts the world over - I love 'em. More info here - http://www.stereophile.com/content/l...hono-cartridge

Re: Cartridges
What about the likes of Goldring? Are they still British made?

Indeed they are - in Bury St Edmunds according to the Interweb.

Re: Cartridges
The OP may be also asking about crystal/ceramic types. As far as I know, none are made in the UK - nor have been for many years.
Ronette copies are made in Italy and BSR (TC8 type) copies are made in the Far East. Not sure about Astatic?

Re: Cartridges
Thank you all, I wonder, with the increased interest in vinyl and vintage record players, will ceramic cartridges (BSR etc ) ever be made in Britain again.
Best Regards John |

Hi
I've noticed that this has been "moved". Not sure what that means, can any one help, I'm new to the forum so please understand. Thank you John |

Re: Cartridges
Just got my brain into gear and read up on forum.
It has been moved to "components". John |
