Default Help Needed For Video On Hacker Radios

Hi, I'll try and keep this brief.

I run a very small YouTube channel called Comfy Tech Reviews originally started to review cheapo electronics bought from China. I've since moved on to cover vintage technology. Here's my first effort with Zuanshi Diamond clocks:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGWAmaRolgY

I started collecting vintage radios this year (already have an R938 in great condition and a Dynatron Gypsy in not-so-great condition) and started reading books about the Hacker brothers across Dynatron and Hacker. Their story is genuinely amazing to me, how they were self-taught, ended up in the war effort, and the uncompromising quality of Hacker Radio themselves using only the best parts. I'd like to do a longer more in-depth video like the one above but about them as I think they're important yet forgotten parts of British history.

That's where I need help, I can't find many pictures or footage of the Hacker brothers, Dynatron or anything for that matter. I tried asking in the Hacker Facebook group to no luck and tried to contact David Hacker but he ignored my emails as far as I can tell.

Any help would be appreciated, HD footage of your radios, archival footage, old advertisements, anything at all I can use. I'll be sure to credit you fully for any contributions, it's just a nightmare working on this video with nothing.

Thanks guys, hope you can help.

Yeah, that's where I've culled most of my script and the story from. It's a really good concise read. I also ripped the pictures from it but they're low res. I think David Hacker is coming out with a book on Dynatron with some high res images, but he wouldn't respond to my email about promoting it in exchange for some of those materials. I'll just wing it if I can't get anything, it would be nice to have some old footage or photographs though. I think they add a lot to it when you talk about a company. Thanks for the help anyway!

Here's the Dynatron museum web site. There's lots of info and quite a few photos if you browse all the sections. http://www.dynatronmuseum.org.uk/History.htm

The PDF on Paul's website is a not-very-good scan which I did of my copy of the booklet, which I bought when I was at university in the mid-90s.

If I ever find it again, I would be happy to try doing you a better scan of the relevant pics, but I haven't seen it for a few years now

There are a couple of Yahoo user groups for Hacker. Registration is required for both.

I finished part 1 if anybody is interested. I cover the Rise and Fall of Dynatron with some of the WWII efforts. Part 2 I will review my own mini collection, Hacker Radios and Hacker Sound.

A great video, I thought the graphics were great and text was good, and it was very smooth and slick, but, I felt you were talking a little fast at times.

Great work.

Agree with Mike in post 8, excellent quality but the commentary was too fast.

Thanks for the criticism, I'm aware I speak too fast at times, been in and out of speech therapy my whole life and often can't hear it because I'm used to my own voice. I'll get a second opinion from friends on the voiceover and speak slower in part 2!

I've re-recorded and reuploaded the video with a better voiceover and some editing fixes. Moving onto the next video now. Thanks for the support guys, I know it's annoying to say but every sub and like to my channel really means a lot to me since I'm doing this for free! Reporting back soon.

I just watched it. I find it quite heartening to know someone is bothered enough to go to the trouble of producing a video about this story. Looking forward to part 2.

Regards,
Paul

An excellent effort, and a worthy subject; however, still rather like a racing commentary.

Maybe captions would be a better idea ?

There is a lot of information to impart in the 4 minute video, the second one is better. A thought, how about lengthing some of the scenes. I noticed that you had just finished speaking the text for one clip and the next clip started, making you carry on without a pause.
Give yourself some room.
Please take it as constructive, overall its excellent.

Cutting from immediate post war to the Nomad seemed chronologically awkward. Edward

I suppose it depends on what material is available.

Watched this earlier today and loved all the old footage. Great effort and I'm looking forward to the next instalment. Sub, shared and liked!

I would "like" it if I could but it wont let me, you have to join google or something, and that's never going to happen.
Looking forward to the Hacker story, narrated at a relaxed pace.
