Re: BVWS Royal Wootton Bassett 4th DECEMBER!!
Yes, RWB is always my favourite BVWS event, whether it's the regular swapmeet/auction events like today or the special auctions (next one in February 2017). It always seems to have a friendly, cheerful atmosphere.
The auction was hard work for us on stage (in part because a number of the lots arrived on the day so ended up out of sequence). Thank you for your patience while we found things, and thank you to those who let me and probably others helping run the auction queue-jump in the kitchen during the auction break (we don't have much time to buy and consume our refreshments). |

Another enjoyable and interesting day. Thanks to Mike and his team plus all those in the kitchen for making it possible.

I did not go to this auction but I`m interested to know how much the early colour TV's sold for.
Item numbers 152 , 153 , 155 , 169 & 186. Was item 169 , the coop set , an A823 chassis ? Robin |

I have just emailed Mike requesting the auction results. Once I have them I will add them to the website.

Re: BVWS Royal Wootton Bassett 4th DECEMBER!!
Hello Robin,
Yes the Co op set was an A823 Chassis. There are several more early Colour TV's to be auctioned in the BVWS Special Auction on the 5th February 2017 at Royal Wootton Bassett. Mike...

Re: BVWS Royal Wootton Bassett 4th December 2016
I had a good day too. I got some thumping big oil filled transformers and a very nice stroboscope. The Pye VT4 I won in the auction is currently being looked at and looks in good condition and hope to see some action soon. Pity I didn't see that the GEC television in the auction had all of its valves removed. going to be a pain to find around 14 replacement valves to get the set complete.

I have quite a few TV valves that realistically I'll never use, what are they?

Re: BVWS Royal Wootton Bassett 4th December 2016
Just in case nobody has noticed - the Welcome page of the BVWS website says the Special is 5th January ... I assume it is February 5 as on the Events page?
Many thanks for an great auction on Sunday. I brought home a magnificent Marconi 346 I had doubts about at first - a real beast - but beautiful! Tony |

Whoops! I must have already been nodding off when Mike gave the result for 152, as I not only missed the next lot but also the "five" of "forty five" on that one.

Christopher
If it's the early 50's 14" GEC TV, I put that in the auction, I bought it a few years ago, never even took the back off and so decided to move it on. I feel guilty now, if you know the line up, let me know what you need, I've loads of TV valves of that period and you'd be welcome to some! Greg

Re: BVWS Royal Wootton Bassett 4th December 2016
Embarrassingly, after offering earlier, none of mine appear to have come from or used in GEC TVs. Close, but not quite the same type numbers.
