An interesting site for parts
With a large range of low priced spares and other items. www.dsmcz.com
Take time to look through the stock list, postage is very reasonable. Just received some 250K dual gang log pots 6mm shaft for 31 pence each new & unused. They also have quite a range of cassette heads. Colin |

Amazing site, I didn't think anything like that still existed - I will make a note.

That's a very good site! I could spend an absolute fortune on there... I wish I'd known about this site when I was making my digital clock, I paid £3 each for the 7 seg LED displays, this site has them way cheaper!

Re: An interesting site for parts
RS is pretty cheap on parts if you consider that next day parcel force courier delivery is free.

Re: An interesting site for parts
Hi... Just found this... dsmcz.com is my site, I'm trying to be the surplus supplier I used to religiously follow in the electronics magazines when I was a kid... Anyway, let me know if you have any questions e.t.c. The site is about 60% NOS (New-Old Stock) the rest is new (mostly from TME - I get a good discount)... Any questions about the condition / source of the old stock - no problem, I'll be honest, the worst thing is buying what you think is new and getting oxidized 30+ year old components... Although the photos and descriptions on the site should make this pretty obvious...

Re: An interesting site for parts
Thanks for posting up this site - just put an order in - would have cost me an extra £15 if I had gone with RS. The problem with RS is that you have to order about 15-20 of everything so end up with a lot wastage.
Btw Maplins seem to have dropped a few IC's from their range. Voltage regulators and Schmitt triggers have gone. |

Regarding Maplins it's hard to tell as the website is completely up the swannee. It appears to be working but can't find most of the products at the moment, after two days down for "maintenance".

Re: An interesting site for parts
I've been using these guys as well: http://www.taydaelectronics.com
Takes a couple of weeks to turn up but the prices are crazy low. They still sell things like 1N34A's and they are actually 1N34As! The majority of the stuff is major brand as well. AVX Tantalum caps for $0.11 that are £1 on RS for example. |

Re: An interesting site for parts
Hi All, thanks for pointing out DMSCZ site. Spotted a faulty Fluke 8050a for £9.99, still good value at £23 including post. I ordered it Sun 6th, it arrived today Sat 12th, well packed. As I,m quite familiar with this meter I was fairly confident of my ability to fix it. The Ni Cads were well gone as expected. Replacing them with slightly smaller sub Cs, nearly all functions worked, display is strong. The only fault is the front panel current fuse is blown. Am I a happy bunny? You bet!. I usually strip and clean purchases like this but with the AEG Telefunken stickers and cal. Labels I think I,ll leave this one alone. I don’t go for “character” but this one looks to have had a hard but careful life. Its nice to see gear like this that hasn’t been tampered with. Its even got very neatly written notes on Ni Cad changes. Well done DMSCZ !
