Default Can you ID this radio? WW2 R1155?

Hi guys,
I recently picked up what looks like a ww2 receiver from a junk shop. The most similar model i have found is the 1155 but there are many differences - no serial number and no ports to connect to a transmitter. It also has vents on the casing unlike the 1153 although the wear on the casing is in keeping with its age so I think it's original.

Very interested to know what anyone can tell me about this bit of kit, especially if it's worth restoring etc

Thanks in advance!

You will need to post some pictures

If it really is an R1155, these are sophisticated professional communications receivers and are very challenging restoration projects for beginners, assuming you are one.

I'm sure there was something that looked similar to the R1155 but was made for the Ham market, maybe in the 1950's? Can't remember the name of the outfit that made them but they've been mentioned on here before I seem to remember.

EDIT: Found it now, Radiovision, there was the V55R, the Hambander and the Commander.

As said, photo's would help.

Lawrence.

The Radiovision V55R receiver was apparently based on the R1155.

Oh...thought I had attached the files...whoops. hopefully they attached this time ..

No not attempting to restore myself, I'm wondering if it's worth paying someone but tbh I'm just curious about where/when it would have been used. Every one of these things has a story!

It appears to be a much modified R1155 fitted into a case with a power supply. Probably someone's pride and joy when they rebuilt it, but not a professional recreation. Not a lot of the original chassis remains, and it appears to be missing a valve.

Yes, an 1155 that's been seriouslly "got-at".

The loudspeaker inside is from a 1950s-era Pye two-way VHF radiotelephone.
