Hello Dick

If your set is like the P76F, these have a HT supply for the ECH42 and EBC41 that is dropped down with from the main HT by a 4K7 resistor and decoupled with a 2uF electrolytic cap. If the 2uF cap is not working well, all sorts of motorboating and instability on all wavebands and Gram is the usual result. If your set has it, I'd suggest replacing this cap.
